Q and A with Boogie's Dad, Daren Jackson
Cobra - How did you and your son get involved in racing motocross?
Daren - We have a nephew that has been riding a few years, and of course became our son’s hero pretty quick. Boogie got his first bike (zuki JR 50) Christmas 2005 and started racing by spring.
Cobra - When did you realize your son was ready for competition at the national level?
Daren - We got a CM50 last summer and he’s been on it for about seven months now. Boogie placed 2nd at our first LL area qualifier this year and we plan on hitting one or two more before the regional.
Cobra - What advice would you give a new Cobra family that wants to get the most out of racing?
Daren - Try and involve the whole family and just have fun with it, if you try to get too serious too quick you and your kids will burn out and loose out on a great opportunity for a family to bond.
Cobra - Why did you decide on the Cobra brand of motorcycle and not another brand?
Daren - When we started we knew nothing about class structure or anything else in MX. Our first year we ran in the oil injected class. I kept seeing these little yellow bikes showing up and just dominating the others, we knew we had to have one.
Cobra - What are your best tips on keeping your Cobra running in top shape?
Daren
- Before we bought our Cobra, I was told they were hi-maintenance, but it’s just not true, if you do your routine maintenance as you would on any bike they wont let you down.
